Virginia Village
VIRGINIA VILLAGE: Home to the 50s Brick Ranch and the Denver Mid Century Modern's (MCM)
In the 50s, south Denver included swatches of land including alfalfa fields. Developers began extending an architectural style that would give ranch and 2 story homes presence moments outside of "Urban" Denver. The Denver Bungalow, brick, and later steel sided homes, would rise alongside Ranch and Bi-level Mid-Century Moderns. Now moments from Cherry Creek, Denver University, Wash Park, Downtown and the DTC, Virginia Village has gained from extensive remodels to the preservation of Mid-Century Moderns. The MCMs in Krisana Park, Lynwood and those on select streets (S Cherry St, E Idaho Pl, and the horseshoe on Dexter Street), extend the community and character enveloped with neighborhood town centers and the major commerce corridor of Colorado Boulevard.
